Many players in Star Citizen have expressed mixed feelings regarding the tech preview of the forthcoming engineering gameplay which was available to Evocati PTU testers over this previous weekend. Everyone from solo pilots going it alone in the expanse to leaders of large and small orgs have been mulling over what it means for their use of different ships in the ‘verse and how they will engage with future contracts and multi-crew gameplay or even if it will be possible to man mid to large ships solo at all.
We in Celentis are no different. Unofficial discussions have taken place expressing both concern and excitement. I will go over a bit of what we believe are some of that now.
The Good
- Increased focus on role specific needs. Players can become master engineers making themselves indispensable and desirable by all.
- A decrease in solo capital ship traffic throughout the ‘verse. Lending to more freedom and greater survival for PvE players.
- Need introduced for orgs to properly man larger ships. This increasing joint operations leading to more interesting engagements throughout the ‘verse.
- I’m sure there are a MULTITUDE of more positive scenarios that I can’t think of at this time… for those of us with imagination and patience we can only hope for what’s to come.
